Founded by our President and CEO Shawn Moore, our history began when our agency, Thinkprofits.com Inc. was born out of a business plan that was written and developed during Shawn’s enrollment in Douglas College’s Entrepreneurial Program called SEEDS in late 1996.
The company’s first office was in Shawn’s home in South Surrey and all work was done on a tiny NEC laptop (that we still have today). Shawn started with 3 staff members and they all worked from his home.
By December of 1996, the company had closed its first contract with Dominion Directories and bcyellowpages.com (now known as yp.ca or yellowpages.ca). Think Profits was one of four companies hired to build, market, and sell the online Yellow Pages. The project combined all 52 Yellow Pages books in BC into an online searchable database. Shawn also worked on the first ecommerce platform development with Dominion Directories, Telus, Webscape and Tantalus, well before Amazon changed the world.
Think Profits was off to a roaring start, continued to grow to bring on more clients and employees, and quickly needed more space than Shawn’s home office could provide. Think Profits moved to its first real office within its first six months. The office was on top of Marr Weld On Tools in Surrey (they also became our clients).

In 1998, google.com was launched. Shawn started building websites and working on how to get his websites to come up on page 1 of Google by testing content and code. He A/B tested his clients’ results from Yellow Pages and Google and his Google sites started generating more than 10 times the traffic and calls that Yellow Pages was getting at the time.
With those results, in 1999 the agency moved all its resources into building websites to come up on page 1 of google…and the rest is history! This was the early days and the very start of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) in the Pacific Northwest.
From the onset, Shawn had a vision and was the first to integrate analytics tracking into his products and services, partnering with a company called Urchin in the USA. Analytics helped our clients quantify and see the results they were getting from their advertising spend with their website traffic, search, and Google. 8 years later, Google bought Urchin and turned it into what everyone knows today as Google Analytics!
